Teeth Hurt in the Cold? It is Not Normal

4 Steps To Take For Brighter, Whiter Teeth

Everyone wants a brighter, whiter smile. Look closely at your teeth and compare it to something white, such as a piece of tissue or a white towel. How do your teeth compare — do they look just a shade or two lighter, or do they appear quite a bit more yellow than you thought? If you they are a bit more yellow, it's time to start doing something about them. Give your teeth a whiter appearance by using the steps below.

Step 1

Lay off of the caffeine and caramel-colored sodas you may be drinking. These types of drinks may be a part of the reason your teeth are turning yellow in the first place. Coffee, tea, soda, or even sugary drinks may be staining your teeth or eating away at your enamel, leaving your teeth yellow in color, or maybe even turning a tinge of brown or gray. Skip these drinks and opt instead for sugar-free drinks, decaffeinated drinks, and water.

Step 2

Take time to brush properly. You should be brushing your teeth every day, twice daily for two minutes. If you're brushing too quickly, you aren't going to remove all of the built up plaque on your teeth. Take the extra two minutes out of your day to brush properly. Remember to brush your gums to prevent gum disease, your tongue to prevent bad breath, and the insides of your teeth to remove built-up plaque. Flossing to remove the built-up plaque in between your teeth is also important.

Step 3

If you are a tobacco user, cease using these types of products immediately. They can be harmful to your health and could be causing your teeth to yellow. Tar can also build up around your gum line, leaving you with black or brown stains on your teeth. Stop using these products on your own, or get help from your physician to help you quit.

Step 4

White your teeth naturally using products such as charcoal tablets, brushing with baking soda, or gargling with hydrogen peroxide. All of these can white your teeth. Eating a diet rich in vitamins and minerals can also help whiten your teeth and give you a brighter smile. Foods such as spinach, kale, and other leafy greens can all help give you a brighter smile.
